Rotor is happy to congratulate Marianne Vos on becoming the womens world cyclocross Champion! Marianne Vos, Last year's junior world cyclocross champion has won her second major elite title in her first year racing the elite category, riding Q-Rings. She was already the European Champion - but at the final race of the cyclocross world championships in Zeddam, NL she went on to make herself the official World Champion. The freeze-hardened ground of the course meant that this race was going to be about pure power. Marianne was part of the three member head group for the entirety of the race, which kept a significant distance ahead of the pack. With van der Brand having dropped out of the head group, Kupfernagel and Marianne upped the pace, with the two head to head after Marianne edged ahead in the final technical descent. Kupfernagel powered her way to the front again again, taking the lead before the final stretch of the course, but she didn't have the energy to keep up with Marianne , whose perfectly timed final sprint at the finishing line was boosted by Q-Rings' lower lactate levels and higher power generation. Marianne got so far ahead in her blistering sprint that she won with enough headway to be able to pass the finish line with her arms in the air! Congratulations Marianne!
